New watch on a budget

I think it is finally time for a new watch! I am wearing the same two watches for more than 5 years now. They are really classy and neutral, but now I want something more colorful.  Statement pieces like that can always pep up an otherwise basic outfit. As those pieces are mostly great for one or two seasons I don’t want to spend too much money on them, so my go to shop is Asos. They have a huge variety of great watches for a small budget. I picked out my favorites. Unfortunately my most favorite is the most expensive one as well, like always. But I think I will order two or three and decide then.

LOV Organic Tea

I have a new passion: loose tea! 

For me it is kind of awkward that in offices everyone is constantly drinking coffee and offering coffee when you are going to meet someone. I did several internships and worked in different part time student jobs before I started at my first real job, and in every company and even in every country it was the same. It is also some kind of “social event”, if someone asks “lets go get a coffee” and then a group of people is getting together at the coffee machine to talk for 5 minutes about anything else then work. Most of the time I could not join those little breaks, as it feels strange standing there and not drinking anything. I felt always like skipping work on purpose then. But the office where I work now has a great coffee machine with a separate water boiler. So I can just go over, get some hot water and drink tea while most of the others drink coffee. 

At first I thought that drinking tea would just be a winter thing when I felt cold and need some warming up and that I would switch back to sparkling water as soon as it gets warmer. But I just did not stop drinking tea in the office even as we had some great temperatures in Cologne over the last weeks. I also “perfectionated” my tea routine during the winter. At first I started by going over to the coffee machine with my cup every time I wanted to drink something, but then I got a small isolated can. So now I just have to go in the mornings to get water and the can keeps it hot at least until lunch time. If I constantly have tea on my desk this also makes me drink more, which is a plus as I am drink way to less. I started with teabags and added a lot of sugar at the beginning, but now I use mainly loose tea and reduced the sugar amount, as I think the loose tea has a lot more flavor then teabags. 

My new favorite tea is the “wild berry fruit tea” by LOV. It is completely organic, comes in a great sealed can, smells awesome and most important: tastes great. I am sure that I will try some more flavors from LOV in the next months.

Favorite Summer Dresses Part III

Part III of our summer dresses series comes with a simple dress that I wear to every occasion if it is over 25 degrees. I bought it last year and was not sure about the cut with the longer trail but now I like it. The dress can be really casual combined with flats (see first picture) but it also works quite well for the office with heels.

This is not my normal outfit to go for a walk with Brownie, but it was one of those days she just wanted to join everything.

Summer Basics II - Burger at Burgerlich

Love this basic summer outfit. I wore it on a day around town with Vanessa, checking out a few new shops in Colognes Belgium quarter. We had a little lunch at Burgerlich before.

Next to our favourite dresses and styles, we would also like to share with you some activities we did. Last week we we decided to try out a newly opened burger restaurant in Cologne called "Burgerlich". The place is really nice and modern as you can order your food via computers. The offers and prices are also quite good. A normal hamburger costs about 5 € and a Coke 3 €. What we liked most is the offer of homemade lemonade with special flavours like citron with lavender or raspberry with cider vinegar - awesome!!! It is really worth a visit!

BURGERLICH

For the Home - Hallway Decoration

After living in numerous places just on an interim basis for almost 6 years now (during my bachelor studies, while I was on my abroad semesters, while working at Lake Constance and now in Cologne) I finally decided to get my real own place. No sharing with room mates, no compromises with a small and unfunctional kitchen or a green tiled bathroom or anything else that annoyed my during the last years. Everything is supposed to look exactly how I am imagining it.

My new apartment will hopefully be completed end of the year. During this waiting period I am thinking of how to decorate every new room. Today I would like to show you how I am planning to decorate my hallway.

Louis Ghost Chair l 1 l 2 l 3 l 4

As you can see in the floor plan, my hallway is really narrow and has not a lot of space for furniture, also it has now window. So I decided to make it light and add a pop of color. The Louis Ghost Chair is perfect, as it is transparent and I can put my purses or coats on it while coming back. As there is a lot of wall space I want to build a little gallery wall with paintings in pink and gold all via Etsy. I am exited to see how it will turn out.

Summer Basics Part I

I bought this top in last years sale at Zara. It was winter then and the plan was to wear it below a light blazer but with the high neckline this did not look too good when I tried it at home. So I had to wait until warmer times to wear it alone. At first I stuck it in the pants but now I like it better falling loosely over a light crème jeans. The silver detail makes the top look good on evening occasions but it is also a great outfit for warmer days at work.

Favorite Summer Dresses Part I

Today we would like to show you some of our favorite summer dresses. I just ordered this dress from Love via Asos, when it arrived I was confused with the slit in the middle, as this was not really visible on the website. I think it should not be a big problem to stitch it up but I am not sure about it yet. The colorful bag fits surprisingly great with the patterned dress, combined with simple shoes and a blazer for colder evenings this makes a great summer outfit for me.

We are Vanessa and Christin, two mid-twenty women living in Duesseldorf and Cologne. We met about 7 years ago at the beginning of our Bachelor studies, we then continued in the same Master program and now even work at the same company in the same area, so we thought: why not have a blog together as well? The idea occurred a while ago and since then got more and more real.

We are both interested in fashion, interior design, good food and pretty things and would like to share all of that with you on our blog.
